Studio North, Prototype & Limited Edition
The Studio North and Prototype sections are promoted as one of the highlights of IDS. They are hosted in a gallery-like space on the show floor, presenting independent design at its best.
Studio North is now full. Thank you for your applications. Sign up to our IDS-Newsletter for updates of show and next jury dates, etc.
Participation in Studio North and Prototype includes the opportunity to have your work reviewed by a panel of international design leaders like Tom Dixon, Eero Koivisto, Arne Quinze and Patricia Urquiola, among others, as well as editors from top design publications around the world.
There is no other marketing opportunity in Canada that provides emerging designers and independent studios with such a high-profile platform to network with potential clients, manufacturers, trade professionals, buyers and media.

Student competition: Dining 101
Prototype Design Lab, in partnership with the Interior Design Show, invites students to explore the boundaries and paradigms of design in dining. The relationship between the consumer and the food is defined by the space within which the consumer eats, its materials and lighting, furniture, dishes and cutlery. We invite you to create an innovative and visionary proposal that will result in a conceptual dining experience, one that brings traditional dining into question.
Students will propose a conceptual design for a dining experience for any culture, client or cuisine. Concepts can either propose a whole space or create distinctive areas that house micro concepts. We will accept proposals for anything from forks and serve wear to tables and chairs, to entire dining pods. However, no matter how the concept is expressed, there must be a strong sense of coherence and harmony to a total design.
Prototype Design Lab will build a selection of the winning concepts for exhibition at the Interior Design Show, January 23-26, 2014.
For more information and full submission details please download the Student Competition Application.
Deadline for submission: November 1st at 5:00 PM.
* Please note, IDS is a vetted event. All new and returning exhibitors must follow the same application process.
